My stomach growled hungrily in anticipation of the advertised "Best Huckleberry Milkshake in the World." My son and I had just finished an overnight hike in the Wallowa Mountains and it was time to reward ourselves. Resting our tired legs, we enjoyed our high-calorie treat with a gorgeous view of Wallowa Lake before our eyes. All of our senses were fully content as we enjoyed the diversity of God's creation, often remarking "How cool is that!"
Moments like these help create those crucial fond family memories. In the Pacific Northwest, we are blessed with a bounty of outdoor wonders to explore and enjoy. As we near the winter dreary hibernation season, our teachers and students will continue their engaging investigation of all that God has made. Warm sun on the face and heavy packs are replaced by the soft glow of media presentations and hands-on learning activities. Almost every day I enjoy a spontaneous conversation with a teacher or student built upon the proclamation "How cool is that!" The beauty of learning all things through a Christian worldview is that all truths point to Christ! "How cool is that!" The miraculous power and intricate beauty of the gospel is found not only in Scripture but throughout the universe. Just about every subject and each learning challenge provides an opportunity to be awestruck with our Creator. While my Huckleberry milkshake may not have been the best in the world, I will continue my quest to experience the best milkshake in the world. And not only that, but seek out all of the "bests" that this world has to offer. In our quests to soak up the pleasure this world provides, let us all take the time to recognize that everything that is good in this world comes from God. Nothing is an accident. "How cool is that!" |
